Ocean Travel Clinic seeks a dedicated and passionate Nurse (RN & LPN) to join our friendly and professional team as a Travel Health Immunizer/Consultant. This exciting permanent part-time position is based at our Vancouver clinic and requires a minimum of 3 days per week. The ideal candidate should be available for some evening shifts until 7:00 p.m. and 1-2 Saturdays and Sundays each month.

The Role:

- Evaluates clients’ needs for travel vaccines, screens for contraindications, and obtains informed consent according to established protocols.

- Administers vaccines following guidelines and best practices.

- Provides clients with clear post-care instructions and information on potential side effects.

- Completes all necessary documentation, including accurate data collection.

- Monitors for any immediate reactions, such as fainting or anaphylaxis, and assists the coordinator in managing these situations.

- Ensures the integrity of the vaccine cold chain and follows proper procedures for sharp disposal.

- Develops personalized care plans to address unexpected situations and evolving client needs, always within the scope of practice and competency guidelines.

Qualifications:

- Active practicing registration as a practical nurse or Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

- BScN degree or equivalent qualification.

- At least one year of relevant nursing experience, with public health or travel medicine experience, considered an asset.

- BCCDC Immunization Certification or willingness to complete the certification successfully

- Completion of the BCCDC Tuberculosis Essentials and Tuberculosis Skin Testing courses.

- Current CPR certification

- ISTM Certification is an added advantage

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and interdependently and make sound nursing practice decisions.

- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills are required.
